Over the years we have worked with many clients, as well as on our own developments, to build houses, bungalows, flats, HMO’s and barn conversions. We have converted residential properties into commercial units and converted commercial units, such as chapels and office buildings, into residential flats and living accommodation.

Residential care homes (Autism and LD)
We have worked closely with a local care provider to help design, specify and build many robust, high end, modern and innovative care homes for adults with learning disabilities and autism.
It was important that these homes were designed to feel homely yet still able to function as care homes. Special care was taken to provide soft edges and corners to prevent harm from a fall, sympathetic lighting solutions to accommodate residents with light sensitivity, robust and highly acoustic walls, ceilings and floors, easy to use bathrooms, protection to all window systems, and multiple exits in all rooms for staff to evade swiftly.
All colours, gardens and finishes are designed around the needs of the residents and all furniture is made bespoke by our contractors and in-house team. The homes also include offices, medication rooms, sensory rooms, communal kitchens, lounges, dining rooms, private and communal gardens. Each flat is unique and designed around the needs of the specific individual, and behaviours.
Supported Living units
We have worked very closely with a local care provider to help design, specify and build quality, individual living spaces for adults who suffer from mental health disorders.
These homes and flats are designed to give the residents independence and help to develop valuable life skills. Each resident has their own private accommodation which consists of a living area, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom, whilst also receiving care providers support, 24 hours a day. Designed to be homely, yet functional, these units are designed to bring much needed quality of life to the residents.
Large commercial projects
We have many years of experience working on large commercial projects up to the value of £3,000,000. At Thomas Homes, we know that when it comes to commercial projects, there is a lot of detail required even before the build starts.
As part of the design and planning process, we can help with all design and planning documentation. We can help with topographical surveys, ecology, site investigation, percolation testing, drainage designs, SUDDS applications, and highways. Budget estimates, detailed costs and a full bill of quantities can be provided.
Prior to the commencement of the on site works, we can deal with the discharge of any planning conditions, highways and Welsh Water. Access roads, S278 drawings and works, designs and applications, 104 and 106 sewer agreements and connections can be provided.
We will liaise with building control and deal with SBEM requirements, take responsibility for all CDM works, health and safety documentation and risk assessments, and F10 submissions.
All elements of the construction, including site clearance, footings and slab, all external landscaping, super structure, roofs, internal floors and partitions, mechanical, electrical, and all finishes up to building control sign off are dealt with by us.
