Tegfan was an existing, 15,000ft2 residential care home for the elderly. Tegfan was then re-designed in the form of 13 self contained flats to accommodate adults with Autism and Learning Disabilities. We also incorporated communal areas such as lounges, dining rooms, kitchens, sensory rooms, staff offices, medication rooms, laundry rooms, plant rooms and staff accommodation. During the build, we removed around 80% of the structural walls to create these areas and include three person wide corridors. On the site there was also a bungalow that we converted into two flats with a communal area. There was extensive works carried out on the grounds which included the replacement of all of the foul drainage system, 800m of close board fencing, the landscaping of half an acre of private and communal garden areas and the reconfiguration of the staff and visitor parking areas.
